Welbie

Long ago, across a stardust-swept corner of the galaxy, there exists a gentle planet called Empathara. It was a radiant, pastel-coloured world where emotions glow in the air, and empathy is as essential as oxygen.

Its in habitants, joyful blob-like creatures, could feel emotional waves across galaxies. Among them was Welbie, a curious and unusually caring little Empatharian who often wandered to the edge of their atmosphere, fascinated by faraway signals from distant planets. He was drawn to the quiet ones, the ones that had feelings of overwhelm and sensory overload, a whisper of isolation. They didn’t cry for help, they masked their pain, so much so that most Empatharians didn’t hear their call, but Welbie did.

The calls were coming from the spinning blue ball in the sky. Welbie remembered rumours of a strange object from that planet crashing to Empathara, and he set off to find it.

Propped up against the broken pieces of metal was a rectangle that had a glowing orange screen.

Drawn by empathy, Welbie stepped into the orange glow and found himself in Earth’s digital world. He slipped through data streams, eventually settling in a cozy spot – an autistic adult’s phone.

From there his purpose was clear, to build a world full of empathy, in the pockets of the people with the quiet calls.

Welbie connected with the autistic adult he had found (Rosie), and her brother (Charlie), and together they built AutiPocket, a safe digital space where autistic adults could feel supported, understood and celebrated. Inside it he put helpers powered by his Empatharian energy, games built to soothe and calm, and a community where they would finally find their people.

Welbie waited, listening for their quiet calls, so he could reach out with a portal, and welcome them to their new safe space.

Welbie waited, excited to welcome them to AutiPocket.
